Family Service On the First Sunday in the month we hold a Family Service. Children and young people join us and our songs, prayers and talk reflect our breadth of ages. Often we have baptisms during this service. The service is easy to follow and is printed out on the weekly Notice Sheet. Songs are mostly on the OHP or from the Mission Praise song book. There is also an opportunity for someone to introduce one or two songs which they have chosen ahead of time and explain why they are significant to them - don't worry, this won't be sprung on you! The service lasts 45mins to an hour and is followed by refreshments. Holy Communion On the Second Sunday in the month we celebrate Holy Communion using the Common Worship order of service introduced in 2000. We follow an order of service in a printed booklet which is easy to follow and everyone who knows and loves the Lord J is welcome and invited to share in the bread and the wine. Some people feel that they would like to come up for a short prayer instead, but there is no pressure to leave your seat at all. Our songs come form Mission Praise or are on the OHP. The service usually lasts about an hour and a quarter and is followed by refreshments. Family Communion The Communion service on the third Sunday is a little less formal and a little more inclusive still. It uses a different form of the 2000 Common Worship material but much of the above details remain the same. The service also lasts about an hour and a quarter and is followed by refreshments. Morning Service On the Fourth Sunday in the month we hold a Morning Service - not quite as informal as the Family or Praise Services, but not as formal as the Communion Services. The service is easy to follow and printed out on the weekly Notice Sheet. Music is from the Mission Praise song books or on the OHP. During this service there is an opportunity, for those who volunteer to, to share what God has been doing in your life; perhaps he has spoken to you through a particular passage of Scripture, or you have had a prayer answered. Perhaps attending a conference or retreat has been of great help to you or God has inspired you through your reading of a Christian book. If you would like to share a little of what God has been doing in your life then please fill in the online form here and one of the clergy will be in touch with you the week before the next morning service. Please note that no one is ever asked to, or put under pressure to say anything unless that have requested to. Praise Service When a month has a fifth Sunday we hold a Praise Service - not quite as formal as a Morning Service, not quite a children orientated as a Family Service. As a church we support a number of mission agencies and during this service we profile one of these so that we know what our giving is being used for and also to help us to pray for their work from a more informed situation. We also often hold baptisms in these services. Services last for an hour to an hour and a quarter and are followed by refreshments. Pray and Read Rota Feb-Apr |
